Boudreau Pipeline Corporation
Company Overview
Boudreau Pipeline Corporation’s roots can be traced back to over 25 years ago, when Alan and Christie Boudreau purchased a single backhoe and began a construction company called A&B Equipment. Alan and Christie ran the business out of their home, while also caring for their four children – a commendable task in and of itself. While working as an owner-operator, Alan began to develop great rapport with his clients – and in September of 1997, he was given the opportunity to bid on a pipeline project that one of his clients was slated to do but could not fit into their own schedule. Although he had never done this type of work before, Alan bid the project to RGC, who was building 41 homes in Rancho Santa Margarita, and was awarded the work for just over $183,000. This launched the start of a new company, Boudreau Mechanical, and gave Alan and Christie the opportunity to hire their first employee! In the first year of their new business, they had a total of 6 jobs, reaching nearly $1,000,000 in revenue. Soon thereafter, they landed a larger project with John Laing Homes – reaching a turning point in the company’s history that led to many great relationships and rapid growth. In 2000, Boudreau Mechanical was incorporated and became what we know it as today: Boudreau Pipeline Corporation.
By the time the Great Recession hit in 2007, Boudreau Pipeline had reached nearly $20 million in annual revenue, and was firmly entrenched in the Southern California residential market. Unfortunately, Boudreau Pipeline was no exception to the countless companies that were severely damaged during this time – and many companies were even forced to close their doors. Boudreau Pipeline’s revenue dropped over 70% in 2008. The Lehman Brothers’ collapse caused many of Boudreau’s major projects to go bankrupt and settle for pennies on the dollar. During such a trying time, only a truly committed leadership team and a company-wide “CAN-DO attitude” allowed Boudreau Pipeline to survive the recession and work its way back to sustainability and profitability. The age-old adage seemed highly appropriate: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” The skilled and dedicated team at Boudreau Pipeline navigated the company out of the recession, turning their attention toward what has amounted to incredible growth. By 2010, Boudreau Pipeline was making $6 million in annual revenue; today, that’s less than a month’s revenue for the company. Boudreau Pipeline now has 350 employees and will hit their annual revenue goal of $100 million per year. In the words of Alan Boudreau, “It’s been an interesting ride – but it’s all thanks to our people and our culture.”
To further illustrate Boudreau’s dedication and imperturbability, in the midst of the 2020 pandemic, when the entire world seemed to be shutting down – Alan and Christie Boudreau formed another company, Baseband Telecom Corporation. In only two years, they have grown Baseband to an $8 million company with 45 employees, expanding their customer base to complete multiple projects in 5 different states.
And even that isn’t all Boudreau Pipeline’s founders have accomplished. During the company’s 20th anniversary in 2017, Alan and Christie Boudreau decided that they needed to find a way to give back to the community – a real, tangible way to make a difference, and show support to the community that had been supporting them through so many twists and turns along the way. It was because of this that Alan and Christie Boudreau kicked off their annual “Cars, Crafts, Bikes, & BBQ” Charity Car and Bike Show, which takes place every year in October and has become a major community event. With food and snack trucks, train rides, a dunk tank, local vendors, a petting zoo, a DJ, and free, family-friendly entertainment, arts, and crafts in the “Kids Zone” – and, of course, an amazing car and bike show with some very unique awards for the participants – this event has gone from raising $13,000 in the very first year, to raising over $71,000 in 2022. And every penny raised goes directly to local charities, which are chosen as a group by the Boudreau Pipeline employees, according to what is nearest and dearest to their hearts. Because this is just one of the ways that Boudreau Pipeline is able to show what is in their own heart, and their steadfast belief in Building a Better Life for Community and Family; We Dig Your Future! ™
